Gyöngyösi, János (1893–1952)

Smallholder politician. A law graduate, he worked as a journalist and took part in 1944 in the Preparatory Committee for the Provisional National Assembly. He remained a member of the legislature for the rest of his life. He served as foreign minister in 1944–7. In 1947, he became general secretary of the Independent Smallholders’ Party (FKgP) and president of the Financial Institutions Centre.
